General Information

The Newburyport PTO offers this free opportunity to all fourth and fifth grade students at the Molin Upper Elementary School. The Showcase provides students with a fun and rewarding immersion experience – one that empowers students as they explore STEM topic they find fascinating.

Students have learned about the Scientific Method in the classroom. Fifth graders have also learned the Engineering & Design process. Students can now use their knowledge to get out, explore, learn and share their discoveries as they ask Scientific Question or identify an Engineering & Design Problem of their choice.

The experience continues with the tradition of an in-school Showcase of all participating student projects in school on the March 2nd half day for all fourth and fifth graders, teachers and staff and on that evening (March 2nd) for families.

To register, click on the “Register” image here. You’ll then:

Indicate your project type:

– All fourth graders: Select “Scientific Question”

– Fifth graders: Choose “Scientific Question” or the option for “Engineering Design Challenge”

Enter your project and group information
Agree to the rules and regulations
Print your summary page for your reference
Download your Materials Listing form

Your project information will be automatically sent to the STEM Teacher and PTO STEM Showcase Coordinators for review of the chosen Scientific Question. The STEM Teacher will provide an OK or contact the student(s) to suggest any recommended modifications.





  • February 3 – February 10 –  REGISTER your project.  Click the big red REGISTER box above to register.
  • DATE CHANGE -Thursday, February 16 (2:30-3:30 PM) OR (6:00-7:00 PM) – Outside the Nock Auditorium – PICK UP your Display Board & Report Materials.
  • Wednesday, March 1 – (4:30-6:30 PM) – PROJECT SETUP in school cafeteria.  
  • Thursday, March 2 – (6:00-7:15 PM) In-school project viewing for students’ and evening project viewing for the community.
